Well I found snippets of cmdlet you can use in PowerShell however knowing how a lot of schools have drive by out sourced technicians and librarians/teachers looking after the school network I thought of commenting on what is going on in the scripts; not everyone has a full time team or administrator in their school.

It looks like the future will consist of schools taking advantage of Live@EDU Outlook Live so I hope this articles can help you in some way.

If you are like me I like to use the auto complete email feature in my To: field in Microsoft Outlook 2003.

Ever wanted to know how to edit that list or take it with you and save it?

If you are not running roaming profiles your list is stuck on that workstation or laptop.

So here are a couple of things you can try in regards to editing and saving your list:

Start typing in the address that shows up incorrectly.

Hit the Down arrow key to select the auto completed address.

How to uninstall Microsoft Java VM

If you are using Java VM and running into problems with permissions not working in Internet Explorer like I had in Seat Advisor then this could help you out.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall JavaVM but no matter how many times I tried to clean out add ins in IE or Add/Remove programs it would still think it had JavaVM installed.

I found a command that allows you to delete the sucker so you can start fresh.

Uninstall Microsoft VM

1. Click Start > Run.
2. Type:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection java.inf,UnInstall
The Microsoft VM uninstall dialog box appears.
3. Click Yes to confirm.
4. Reboot when prompted.

SharePoint Portal Administration Service Error in Event Log

Comments I found when searching on the net for reasons.

If you have performed an upgrade from version 2003 to version 2007 and you have only one configuration database, you will probably have to disable the old "SharePoint Portal Administration Service" (version 2003). That was the solution in my case.

Michel Dawidowicz:
In my case, this symptom started to appear when the database backend was down for a short period. The event is logged twice per minute in the log. To resolve this restart the "Sharepoint Portal Administration" service on each affected server of the farm.

Ionut Marin:
From a newsgroup post: "Go to IIS manager, open each site, and go to the home directory tab. Then, there is a section at the bottom called Application pools. Edit each and set the account to someone who has logon as a service right to the local server".

Ncomputing devices not working on Dell 755 & 745 workstations.

We tried implementing the Ncomputing devices into our school and were constantly bombarded with BSOD errors and end point devices not turning on.

I tried for weeks to figure out why machines would not run stable, looking at Fix 1 in my opinion would be an acceptable solution.

You receive a "Service Unavailable" error message when you browse a Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 Web site

We changed our admin' password which the application pools and websites where using to authenticate, the 'Services' logon details do not sync with Active Directory its local machine based.

The website troubleshooting tips wern't all valid expect for this paragraph and changing "Services" logon information manually:

Use one of the following methods as appropriate to your situation:

a. If Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 is installed on a member server:
1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Computer Management.
2. Expand Local Users and Groups, and then expand Users.
3. Right-click the account that is used by the application pool for the virtual server, and then click Properties.
4. Click the Member of tab.

Restart IIS after these steps and check site in your browser.

How to delete a service in Windows Server 2003

I had trouble with an old install of AIME (films library pkg) and tried to reinstall the application service; it did not work.

We can use sc.exe in the Windows Server 2003 to control services, create services and delete services. Since some people thought they must directly modify the registry to delete a service, I would like to share how to use sc.exe to delete a service without directly modifying the registry so that decreased the possibility for system failures.

To delete a service:

Click start - run, and then enter cmd to open Microsoft Command Console.

Enter command:

sc servername delete servicename

For instance, sc dc delete myservice

(Note: In this example, dc is my Domain Controller Server name, which is not the local machine, myservice is the name of the service want to delete on the DC server.)

USAGE:

sc

So use on libserver the command was:

sc \\libserver delete AIME

Below are steps taken to backup database, install Adventnet on another server, restore database and switch the service on.

Adventnet Service Desk runs on MySQL, they provide tools for you to manage your database.
